Vondel Mahon

Associate Medical Illustrator

Vondel grew up in the beautiful island of Grenada where he was surrounded by tropical wildlife, botanic spectacle, and celestial landscapes. This gave him a love and appreciation of nature and life. Along with this adoration, he had a passion for art. This led him to pursue a career in Medical Illustration to not only share his love of science and art with others, but to use the art of biomedical communication to serve medical, scientific, and patient communities.

He self-designed his Medical Illustration major through the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies program (CUNY BA) at the City University of New York. There he learned multiple perspectives of art by simultaneously attending three CUNY colleges (Medgar Evers College, New York City College of Technology, and Brooklyn College). After undergraduate studies, he attended the Art Students League of New York to further hone his skills in design. Ultimately, he completed his Master of Art in Medical and Biological Illustration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Vondel discovered the potential for extended reality technology during undergraduate studies. Prior to joining OSSO VR he designed XR modules/experiences for community development, physician education, and patient rehabilitation.
