Associate Medical Illustrator
Mariya is an artist and designer with over a decade of experience creating visual experiences for educational media, biology research, and healthcare industries. After receiving her masters in biomedical illustration from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, she interned as a graphic artist for the National Geographics Magazine. There, she helped bring in the MALOFIEJ 24 Gold Award, before heading to Cambridge to join the Broad Institute’s Cancer Program. As Sr. Visual Designer at the Broad, she led the design system development for the Connectivity Map’s computational biology software suite. Mariya’s consultant work included product design, UI/UX development, publication design, as well as scientific illustration. In her spare time, she continues to pursue her passion for fine arts, visual storytelling, the study of graphic science, semiotics, music, and recently, gardening.
