Associate Medical Illustrator
Emily Slapin hails from northern New Jersey where she was raised by an art teacher and a jazz musician. She received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design where she developed a passion for figure drawing and love of anatomy. This passion led Emily to pursue an MFA in Drawing and Anatomy from the New York Academy of Art. After receiving her MFA, Emily taught undergraduate and continuing education classes in Figure Drawing, Artistic Anatomy, and Illustration for 8 years.
Looking to further her anatomical knowledge, and combine her classical training with a love of visual communication, Emily pursued an MA in Medical Illustration from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Emily loves combining her artistic training with her extensive scientific and medical knowledge. In her spare time Emily enjoys renovating her historic house and playing with her two rescue pups.
