      Justin is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon with a Bioengineering degree from UC Berkeley, and an MD from UCLA, where he graduated first in his class. He completed his residency at UCLA and his fellowship in pediatric orthopedics at Harvard and Boston Children’s Hospital.

      Justin originally wanted to be a game developer. When a personal family health incident introduced him to the world of healthcare, he decided to find a way to combine his passions and use his technology background to solve medical problems. During his residency, he identified what could be one of the most pressing medical challenges of this century: how we are training our surgeons. With a strong interest in gaming and a first-hand understanding of the challenges facing residents and experienced doctors, he co-founded Osso VR with a mission to improve patient safety and democratize access to modern surgical techniques.

      Justin wrote about medical technology as an editor at Medgadget for over a decade. He has spoken at multiple conferences including TEDMED, CES, Exponential Medicine, and Health 2.0. He also currently serves as a member of the Consumer Technology Association’s Health and Technology Fitness Division Board of Directors.

      Dr. Alessandra Ross is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with sub-specialty expertise and in Sports Medicine.
      After graduating from Georgetown Medical School, Dr. Ross accepted a six-year residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center which included a year of clinical research.  In 2013, she completed a sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Andrews’ Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.
      Dr. Ross has had an unconventional professional career including  time spent overseas in the military.  She served two years in South Korea followed by deployment to an international forward-based combat surgical unit in Afghanistan. She has been awarded a NATO service medal as well as four U.S. Army commendation medals. Her time in remote and austere environments has helped her become creative and adaptable in the care provided for her patients.
      In addition to drawing from experiences as a war veteran, Dr. Ross’ multifaceted understanding of her field has been rooted in her zest for sport and lifetime personal experiences in athletics.  A member of the 2000 US Olympic Track and Field Team as an 800 m alternate, she has a deep appreciation for immersive technologies which can enhance training and improve performance.
      Infused with a passion for safe, equitable health care and accessible surgical education, she is excited to leverage her diverse experiences and join the Osso team as Senior Medical Expert.

      Since then, Jason has contributed to beloved worlds of entertainment including the Halo video game series and HBO’s Westworld: A Delos Destination VR experience, which received an Emmy for “Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media” in 2017. He also has had the opportunity to contribute further in the VR and AR space at Facebook Reality Labs and Amazon, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved within interactive media.
      Jason continues to push his passion for digital and traditional realism to the next level, studying Forensic Facial Reconstruction in his spare time with the goal of becoming certified in the field. After graduating, she worked as a junior designer at two Korean animation companies in the cities of Seoul and Uiwang. She decided to study abroad to further educate herself in a complementary field of art and illustration and earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. During her studies at RISD Insil began to pursue her a career in medical illustration and as a freelance artist in Boston, she produced two illustrations for covers of the scientific journals Nature and Cell. She received a Master of Art degree at Medical and Biological Illustration program in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. For her thesis project, she created a VR simulation app that trains users in an autopsy brain removal procedure.

      Stephen is a Board-Certified Medical Illustrator with over seven years of production experience in medical animation. His work has been featured on network television as well as the patient education materials at your doctor’s office. He earned his MS in Medical Illustration at Augusta University where he collaborated with faculty and clinicians to develop surgical illustrations, molecular animations, and an interactive virtual patient.       Manjun Chai grew up in Shanghai, China.       Specializing in biomedical visualization, Eleanor has a rich background in human anatomy and physiology, cognitive science, educational design, and healthcare ethics. She has an MS from the Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BA in Psychology from McGill University. Eleanor’s work has received multiple awards including the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) Literary Award, the Hermes Creative Platinum Award, and the Telly Bronze Award. Her research has been published in the Journal of Biocommunications and she has been invited to speak at the AMI annual conference. In her spare time, Eleanor enjoys hiking, experimental grilling, and boxing.

      Helen obtained her B.A. in Biology from Brown University and her M.A. in Medical and Biological Illustration from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She worked as a research associate at a biotechnology company prior to her entry into the field of medical illustration. For her thesis, Helen designed and prototyped a novel recovery app to prepare stroke patients for the transition from hospital to home.       Fei studied Biology and Fine Arts with an emphasis in Illustration at the University of San Francisco. He later earned a MFA in Medical Illustration at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). For his master’s thesis project, Fei collaborated with researchers from the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Center for Musculoskeletal Research and RIT’s Biomechanical Imaging Lab to create a 3D animation to demonstrate to other researchers and grant committees their mouse flexor tendon repair model to assess tendon healing via ultrasound and its potential applications. Over the past few years Fei has worked as a freelance illustrator working on projects ranging from concept art/illustration and portraiture, to creating figures and short animations for researchers affiliated with Personalized Healthcare Technology (PHT180) at RIT.

      Benjamin M. Brown, MSMI, is a graduate of Augusta University where he specialized in animation and virtual reality. His prior commitments to service in medicine included volunteering as a member of the VA Medical Reserve Corps, being named Red Cross volunteer of the year, and contributions as a Rotarian. In his travels throughout the world he also assisted service missions or research in El Salvador, Honduras, Ecuador, and China. He found a way to marry his medical and artistic interests during his tour of service in the Dominic Republic with the Peace Corps. There he used artistically rendered medical concepts to educate children and young mothers on preventative health practices, and in so doing, solidified his opus for medical illustration and animation.

      Vondel grew up in the beautiful island of Grenada where he was surrounded by tropical wildlife, botanic spectacle, and celestial landscapes. This gave him a love and appreciation of nature and life. Along with this adoration, he had a passion for art. This led him to pursue a career in Medical Illustration to not only share his love of science and art with others, but to use the art of biomedical communication to serve medical, scientific, and patient communities.

      He self-designed his Medical Illustration major through the CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies program (CUNY BA) at the City University of New York. There he learned multiple perspectives of art by simultaneously attending three CUNY colleges (Medgar Evers College, New York City College of Technology, and Brooklyn College). After undergraduate studies, he attended the Art Students League of New York to further hone his skills in design. Ultimately, he completed his Master of Art in Medical and Biological Illustration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

      Vondel discovered the potential for extended reality technology during undergraduate studies. Prior to joining OSSO VR he designed XR modules/experiences for community development, physician education, and patient rehabilitation.
